Illinois - Blue or Pink?

I don't know how Beth and Daniel managed not to tell us what the gender of the baby was until Sunday but somehow they did. The plan was to meet up at a local restaurant, eat dinner and have the grandmothers cut the cake to reveal if it this new babe is a boy or girl.

Beth made this cake. Isn't it lovely? I know, you can stop drooling now.

While we waited at Daniel and Beth's, we all cast our votes.

What does my family do when we're just waiting around? Take pictures, of course!

My sisters. 'Nuff said.

And then we just had to play with Gracie....

After eating lunch it was finally time to cut that cake.
The Nana's didn't waste anytime at all.
(I apologize, this was the best picture I have, the lighting was terrible in there.)

Inside the gorgeous cake we all saw that blue icing.
That's right. Bluuuuueeeee!
IT'S A BOY!
A nephew, a son, a brother, a little man-cub.
Yesssss.
I'm so happy to have another boy in the family, it's been awhile ;)

Dear Nephew,
First off, you're already our favorite little guy. We all love you and can't wait to hold you. We can't wait to tell you how handsome and strong you are, we can't wait to clean you up when you get dirty. We can't wait for you! Also, you've got some crazy aunts and uncles, lucky you ;) And the best grandparents. No lie.
We have this exact picture with your mom when your big sister was in her belly. By the way, you have pretty cool parents and big sister too.
Hurry up and get here, ok? Ok!
Love,
Aunt Bean.

  3. YAAAAY!! Brea, letmetellyouwhut...nephies are SO much fun!! My 2nd nephling comes next month and I'm already calling him and his big brother David the "Nephilim." They'd better be tall so they can uphold their giant name. ;) Great pictures! And I'm very supportive of you only having one picture of that big cake decorating moment...sometimes the camera just has to be put down so you can fully BE THERE and embrace the moment! I also LOVE that pic of you mom and Christy with the boy/girl signs!! So funny! Love that idea!
