Spring Delayed

For the word of the LORD is upright,
and all His work is done in faithfulness.
(Psalm 33:4 ESV)

She woke up to a surprise of white this morning.
After warmer days and sunshine, this thin veil of snow on the ground was not expected.
How could there be snow when Spring seemed so close?

It was a little disappointing. After all, she was ready for Spring to be here.
Ready for the warm and the light.
Ready to see everything wake up and bloom out.
But instead, there was this cold snow.
And there was more waiting.

But she realized that she was alright.
She knew Spring would come.
Had it ever not come?
Had the Winter ever lasted forever?
No.
She had faith that the season would eventually change.
This was not the way it was always going to be.

Maybe she could have the same faith when God's answer was no, or wait.
Maybe she could be as confident in the Creator of the seasons as she was in the changing
of them.

She watched as the sun shone through the delicate falling white, reminding her of all God's faithfulness.

He will always bring about His good.
Always.
There was no reason to doubt.

But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD.
At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of
Your steadfast love answer me in Your saving faithfulness.
(Psalm 69:13 ESV)

Looking up she saw that behind those bare trees, right behind all the black? There was the sun, shining still.
And the brave little blossoming branches pressing up against her window.

She wanted to blossom, unrelenting, in the face of doubt.
To grow brave and bold despite the snow.
Just like that.

Jesus, help my unbelief.

But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD.
At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of
Your steadfast love answer me in Your saving faithfulness.
(Psalm 69:13 ESV)
