In Which I Receive An Award

My long-time friend Kellie over at Nothing Less Than Bread nominated me for the:

How sweet of her, right? I've known this woman for years and we spent many months (a long time ago) traveling around the country wrangling kids of all shapes and sizes in churches together. It was quite the adventure, ask us about it sometime ;)
If you haven't already, you need to go over and check out her blog. If you want place to see amazing photography and read God-honouring words of wisdom, her blog is the place to go :)

On to the facts and questions. I know this is a longer post, but I had fun with it. So whether
you read it or not, here goes!

Eleven random facts about me are as follows:

1. I am one of eight children.

2. I met my husband in Michigan. We started our relationship while he was in Alabama and I was in Mississippi. We were engaged in North Carolina and married in Tennessee. Aaaand now we live in Kentucky. Oh, long-distance relationships. They're an adventure all in themselves ;)

3. Most of my sibling can dance. I totally missed out on that one. Please don't ask me to dance. Thank you.

4. I'm a writer at heart. My dream is to have something I write published.

5. Hydrangeas are some of my favorite flowers. But I didn't discover this until I was picking flowers out for my wedding. Just under two years ago.

6. I collect journals and notebooks. I buy them, but don't write in them hardly at all. Then, I go buy more....

7. Growing up, I was fascinated with being a spy or a secret agent. I created a club for me and my siblings with a code language and secret identities and everything. It was the real deal.

8. I will never be too old to read fairytales or watch Pixar movies. And if you feel like you've grown out of all that, I truly feel sorry for you.

9. Animals simply fascinate me. As a child, I thought I would be vet when I grew up. I guess I'll have to settle for owning a giant dog and two white cats for now ;)

10. I, for the life of me, can't master the feminine art of painting my nails. I try, honest. Mine just never end looking as beautiful as the other women I know. But I'm not giving up!

11. My favorite foods are south-western types and hot wings. I know, I know....I like man-foods.
Ha!

And here are the questions that Miss Kellie asked:

1. Can you do a cartwheel?
Um...no.

2. If you had to be a movie character at a costume party, who would you pick to dress as?

This is a difficult one, as I am a huge movie buff. But honesty? The first character that popped in my head when I read this question was Captain Amelia from 'Treasure Planet'. It's one of my favorite movies ever and that character is just plain cool. Plus that jacket and those boots she has? Who wouldn't wanna wear that?

3. Would you rather go up in a hot air balloon or go kite surfing?

Hot air balloon, for sure. I mean, you get to float through the sky in basket lifted by a giant colorful balloon! And if you happen to survive any tornadoes that come your way, you just might end up in Oz or something.

4.What was the FIRST and last movie you saw in theaters? What do you plan on seeing next?

The first movie I saw was 'Finding Nemo' if I remember correctly. The last one was 'Oz, The Great and Powerful'. And if my hot air balloon ride was to end up in Oz I would want it to be the original one, not the place from the most recent installment of the 'Wizard of Oz' story-lines. This latest movie was disappointing on so many levels. Don't even get me started on that....

5. Is there any color you won't wear?

I like wearing colors. A little thing my husband taught me. He jokes that before we met, my wardrobe was mostly grey. Which is basically true, that man has helped a lot with my personal fashion. Yea, he actually likes to shop. Crazy, hu? So as far as colors are concerned I don't believe there's any one that I wouldn't wear. Although I usually tend to steer away from overly 'girly' colors, I'm just not that type ;)

6. If you were getting married right now, what song would you pick as your bridal recessional? Fun and pretty? Meaningful and spiritual? Classical or pop? Live or canned?

Seeing as how we're already married. I'll just answer this one with what we did use: 'How Sweet It Is' Jimmy Needham's version :)

7. What drink do you drink the most?

I was going to answer this with Dr. Pepper or sweet tea. But Jonathan, when I read him this question, quickly answered, 'Coffee!'. I guess he knows me better than I know myself. Ha!

8. Do you wear sunglasses? If so, how many pairs do you own?

Three. Is that too many? Oh and if you count the pair I stole from Jonathan, it's four. (Hey, they look good on me!)

9. Would you rather run a mile or walk three?

I love walks and I'm out of shape. Thus the whole walking three miles is right up my alley.

10. Do you prefer the singing of Frank Sinatra or Fred Astaire?

Frank Sinatra. You just can't beat his classic voice. Don't even try.

11. Suppose you're a phenomenal singer and dancer - if you were to be in a musical, which musical would you want to be in and what character would you like to play?

This is also a hard question. There are so many good musicals out there! I suppose I would love the chance to be one of my favorite heroines of all time, Jo in 'Little Women'. She is simply amazing.

Thanks again for giving me the award Kellie! And just because I know you will enjoy it, here's a picture of my kitty :)

  1. Ah! I LOVE this!! Thanks for saying such sweet things about me! Yay!! Finally someone else who's heard of Jimmy Needham! I love that guy and "How Sweet Is Is?" Wow - what a totally perfect song for your recessional! And oh dear? Oz was a disappointment?? I've got a movie date with my birthday month buddy on Sunday to go see it and I can't wait...but now I'm sorta sad! But maybe I'll be one of those crazy people who DO like it, eh? :D Oh and THANK YOU for the cat picture!! As silly as it sounds...I really needed a cat picture this morning! And I just love yours in all their fluffy white adorbs-ness! :) Thanks for linking to me AND for filling this out, I loved reading it!

    1. Well I'm glad the cat picture was well timed ;) And who doesn't like Jimmy Needham, right? I am sorry to say that I was disappointed with Oz. Maybe you will enjoy it more than I did, it just wasn't to my taste.

  2. I love the part you said about Oz. You know, I consider myself an Ozzie but, I was so unhappy with the Disney Version. I was bored, and almost thought I just wasted my money. So adult of me to be a "bah-hum-bug" after a movie. I just thought it was cheesy and all I kept thinking was they are just standing in front of a green scene with little to no passion about this film. I will say that the doll and the monkey were the only parts that I came away feeling the least bit happy about. I gave it a thumb down and a thumb turned side-ways. I saw wicked on broadway and it was amazing, but broadway is good usually no matter what you are watching. L.F.Baum would be dissapointed I think, and that makes me sad. Disney missed this one.
