We had a busy, work-filled weekend. It wore us out, but it felt good to be productive!
Between mine and Jonathan's families, we are no strangers to DIY home improvement.
We aren't afraid to rip up carpet, lay flooring, strip wallpaper, paint, grout, stain, and knock down walls.
So, thank you to both sets of our parents who taught us that most of the time you can save money simply by doing it yourself :)
I painted.
He did stone work on the fireplace.
He hung trim.
I finished putting the last clear coat on our coffee table.
And Sadie and the cat had to spend a lot of time in their room :)

Can you agree with me that Jonathan did a FANTASTIC job on the fireplace?! That guy is so handy to have around ;)
And I will not be missing that dinosaur-like skin print that was there before. At all.
Sorry that I'm not sorry.
I lovelovelove this new green color that we put up. It's just the fresh, bright look we wanted.

And we got new curtains for the dining room. Yay for Ikea!

I love that our house is slowly turning into a reflection of us.
We like bright colors. And I obviously love branches of any kind. Maybe we over did it? Oh well... :)
One day I'll most likely look back and laugh at myself over how much I stressed over this little place.
It's taken longer than I thought it would to get this far. And even now, it's still not finished by a long shot. There's still those unfinished rooms. That huge wall that needs painting. And the backsplash for the kitchen is sitting there on that chair.
But this is home.
And maybe the humbling contentment I'm (slowly) learning through all this is the truly beautiful thing.
Thank You Jesus for lessons learned, for drywall dust, and the ability to work.

Looks great guys! The rock work really added alot of class to that room. I know where you get your branch-love!!! Enjoy your labors!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Momma! And yes. it's your fault I'm obsessed with branches!

DeleteBrea!! Your house is just fabulous!! I hope "my room" at my new house will manage to be as cute as your room! I'm especially excited about your green walls in your living room and that you like bright colors! But I can't tell you why. Yet. But you will soon. Like this week. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat, what? Now I'm all curious......and yes, i know your room is going to be just spot on ;)
DeleteOh! And I'm rreeeeeeaaaaaaally hoping my friend (owner of house I'm moving into) will let me have a CAT!! I'd wither away and die if I didn't have a cat around! And I'm thinking I want a nice white one like yours. :)
