The Truth of Christmas

I'm not telling you anything you don't know....

You know Christmas isn't about the glowing lights, the gifts all wrapped up, or even the tales of reindeer with red noses.
You know that....right?
I hope you do.
If not, let me tell you what this season is really and truly all about.
And I hope that you who already have this knowledge haven't forgotten.

You see, there was Baby born on this day. But not just a baby, the Baby, the Gift.
The most undeserved, loving gift in the history of our world.
Please don't reject it by scoffing or not remembering, or simply grow apathetic towards the mystery of it.
I'm speaking to myself here.

Jesus Christ, all wrapped up in flesh, came with the purpose of giving us Himself.
The wonder of that is beyond any of us.
He is here, with us.

The people who walked in darkness
  have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
  on them has light shone.
(Isaiah 9:2 ESV)

He was born, He lived, He died.
And it was all to bring us from our darkening sin and be the glorious light that reveals the Father to us.

Unwrap that truth today.
Maybe for the first time.
Maybe again and again, like the first time.
We can all experience the humbling joy of it by repenting, accepting and sharing it.
And only then can the joy of Christmas be born into our hearts.
Would you come and behold Him too?
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
(Luke 2:10-11 ESV)

Praying everyone has a wonderful day today.
Merry Christmas!
