Frostbite

It's so easy to do.
I mean, it is for me anyway.
I get into the everyday swing of things and miss out on what God's trying to show me. I get all frozen into a  routine and my heart grows cold.
Maybe this is you as well.
Do me a favor....go read this.

It’s right there. Did you see it? I don’t know how many times I’ve read those verses and missed it. Maybe you did too.
Right there after the encouraging and challenging of husbands to love their wives, God puts an astonishing truth that we pass over all to often.
And when we do, our hearts get frosted over with the lies.
I need the truth that Jesus showed me in these scriptures to shine through me, only then can I be made beautiful.
Without it, I'm cold, grey, lifeless.

Read it again and let me show you what God showed me.

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body."
(Ephesians 5:25-30 ESV)

Jesus is telling the husbands to treat their wives how He treats us.

How he treats us.

Most of the time this passage is used to challenge husbands, and it should be; I’m not trying to take away from that. I just want to share what seemed to jump off the page to me the other day.
 It’s this:
Because I’ve been washed clean in His blood and become one with Him, Jesus Christ nourishes and cherishes me.

That’s not the kind of relationship that (all too often) believe that I’m in with Him. I believe that yes, I’ve been forgiven. But it’s up to me to keep up the performance. In a sense, that God has left me alone to figure out my Christian walk.
What a lie!
But now I can fight that lie with the truth that Jesus so lovingly reminded me of in His Word:
He has not only saved me but loves me and continually cares for and treasures me as His own body.

We all need to know that His love burns bright and warm for us, always.
And may you join me in the good fight with that truth today as well.

p.s Or maybe you've never experienced His love.
Maybe you're separated like I was at one time.

And maybe you want to know more.
Please, please go read this and let the truth
set you free.
Praying for you....

  2. Freakin' awesome photos, Brea!! I feel like I'm saying that on every post...because it's true! I'm drooling over your talent! I'll appease my jealousy by telling myself that I just don't have as much beautiful scenery around me to take photos of like you do. ;)
