these last savorings of summer
we hold them close in our palms and sip slow
the final wanting
then a breeze, lifting our spirits with the song of coming autumn
that cool touch, just a reminder that
the sitcky-warm of this is coming slowly to it's end.
the bare reflections and endings shimmer quiet on the fringes
we see the turnings and curling edges up in a gold clutch
there's a blue, clearer in the sky
washed and prepared to backdrop all the colors coming
drink up all the last haze, let it seep into you
sit quiet and prepare for change
for leaving and farewells
the last yellow-green of summer
let it hold you here
for awhile
and then a parting
for awhile
until next you meet
underneath the springing sky
speaks to my heart.
ReplyDeletethe beauty of the ache and longing is that there in lies the slightest hints of hope.
