The Important Factor Of Rest

For me, this week has looked vastly different than last week did.

Last week I was:
exhausted
over-emotional
frazzled

This week I've been:
motivated
stable
inspired

I've had the gift/ability to see beauty in the many forms it comes in. I've wanted to get projects done and felt the desire to take on some new ones. It's not been perfect but it has been a much better week.

 I chalk some of the improvements up to the simple fact that we took time to get rest. My husband had to remind me that the world goes right on along the same whether I'm over-working myself or not. In other words, if I take some time off everything isn't going to fall to pieces. It was a humbling truth I needed to realize. Sometimes what resting really looks like is relinquishing my false idea of control. And maybe you need to do the same? I would encourage it. I'm not saying be lazy. I'm saying, if you're worn thin or stressed out? Maybe you need to make time in your day for a nap. Possibly say no to people who've asked you to help out with something. Stay home. It will be alright. I promise.  Maybe God will minister to your weary heart in ways you didn't expect.

The truth is, God wants to refresh us.  He wants us have that healing-rest always in Him. We just think we're too busy to actually need it. I don't know who said it, but I'm sure you've seen the quote that says.
"Stop the glorification of busy."

How true, yes how true.

Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
our God is merciful.
The Lord preserves the simple;
when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return, O my soul, to your rest;
for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
(Psalm 116:4-7, ESV)
